"Bad experience at Royal Preston Hospital"

About: Royal Preston Hospital / Accident and emergency Royal Preston Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a relative),

My grand daughter was brought to Royal Preston after blood test.

We were shown to a dirty room which contained dirty bedding and a bedpan that had dirty tissues in. I advised my daughter to get a water sample as i felt this could be a good start to finding out what was wrong.

No one came to see what the problem with my grandaughter was, so we left after 4.5 hours. The water sample had been given to a nurse who had left it on the side.

A couple of days later i again reluctantly brought my grandaughter to primary care with raging temp still and still very poorly. Again i advised my daughter to get urine sample which she did and gave it to the doctor (very good caring and understanding) who wanted to admit her. We explained what had happened earlier in the week and said we wouldn't be happy or confident doing so and felt she would get better care at home. The doctor spoke to a colleague and he then gave us a prescription and advised if she didn't get better or if she got worse to bring her back in.

We would've gone anywhere except back to the Royal Preston Hospital due to what we felt was a complete and utter lack of care we had received earlier that week. We would hope this is an isolated incident but past experience with my daughter who has spent a lot of time at the Royal Preston does nothing but reinforce my view that radical changes need to be made. Basic care and basic hygiene just for starters.
