"Talking therapy service"

About: Somerset NHS Foundation Trust / Adult community mental health

(as a service user),

I  had a Talking Therapy service assessment by phone. I was sceptical, even though I am very comfortable on the phone, but it went very well. The young lady, Sarah, was very professional, she asked some difficult questions, in that  they made me question myself, and took it all in her stride. She was not taken aback or flustered by things I said, she was not judgemental, just very calm.

I feel as if I have taken the first, probably the most difficult, step towards tackling my depression.

The only  point I would raise is for the details about providing feedback is in slightly larger print.  There is a question 'How was your appointment?' with the number to call to give feedback just below the clinicians details. I almost missed it, if it was in larger print it would be more noticeable.

Dear januaryqd36

Thank you for such an encouraging comment on our services. I will pass on your feedback to our teams. Hopefully, the particular Sarah will recognise herself, but it will be a positive thing for all practitioners to hear.

It is very important that our first contacts with patients feel encouraging and effective and it is helpful to get such reassurance back from a patient. I wish you very well with your next steps with us in tackling your depression.

I believe the message at the bottom of the letter you received is something in the control of central Trust admin, not our service directly, and I'm sure they will look to respond to this concern.

Best regards,

Hello,

I've been looking into the point you raised about the 'Feedback' message being too small. I've raised this with our IT Team, and I'm pleased to say that we will be making this larger, and also including it on all of our patient appointment letters. This will be in place very soon, so thank you for raising this issue and I'm pleased to say that I hope we have made it even easier to see where you can leave your feedback!

Kind regards,

LUCY
