"Disgraceful circus"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

Ward 10.

This ward is a disgrace. The showers hadn’t worked or at least 3 months patients were expected to hose themselves clean in corner of shower room!!!!

No one had reported it ever as it was and I quote “not my job”

The bathroom wasn’t cleaned all day.

I had to look at stoma outputs left for hours along with urine bottles more often than it was removed and recorded

No tvs or any sort of stimulus to help pass the 23 and a half hours between fleeting visits by doctors. (1 tv in a tv is present but it is usually occupied by a sleeping patient and does not look even close to clean).

Internet does not work for over week ( they are working on it !!!)

After begging for over 6 hours for my Iv line to be brought in The pump stopped working and I had to wait a further 3 plus hours for someone to step up and change it.

The visits by doctors are almost never the same doctors twice who know very little about individual cases ( 5 to 10 mins prior of scanning over notes ). I had medication which was stopped due to detrimental to my health re prescribed by next shift.

Every time the shift changes you have to spend hours going over your condition to make sure no confusion.

Left for days at a time with little or no information about my case with exception of nurses doing standard observations

General feeling on ward was get the shift over so someone else can deal with it.

Don’t get me wrong a lot of good hard working nurses but general very little consideration to patients quality of stay or mental well being.

If you can choose a different hospital.

I am so sorry you had this experience, Ward 10 is usually such an excellent ward I am surprised and disappointed you had this experience? I have asked the Head of Nursing and the Consultant to discuss your comments and ensure that as you visited in November all the issues you have raised have been resolved and that they discuss their communication, no-one should say anything is not their job, we work together and should try and ensure our patients have the best experience they possibly can while under our care.

regards

Michelle Youens

head of Patient Experience
