What I liked
I liked the staff that cared for me, well some of them! whilst I was in A&E I was apparently looked after brilliantly( I only have my husbands word as I was out of it) as soon as I was put onto a ward I was then moved to a side room which was ok, given the nature of my illness, this was in the MAU ward, I was not seen to all day by a Dr, I had to use the same comode 3 times in the nite, my medication of which I took in was not given to me at all the correct times, causing me alot of un necessary pain, the food was absoliutly diabolical, my bedding was not changed for 3 days and had my own blood stains in it, it only got changed after ide asked, then two hours later my hubby asked again, the nurse that changed it wasnt very happy and you could feel the tension, my drip bag remained empty for some time before it was changed.
I was told so many different stories about what was happening, what was wrong, and to be fair because I wasnt kicking up a fuss I got left to it basically... Not good at all and thats only the half of it. The staff are overworked, some where doing a back to back shift, there were not enough staff to deal with the patients they had, and some were going without breaks, or lunch, this is not right, I know they choose to do this job but I could have died in that side room and no one would have known, I was in a week and couldnt wait to get home even though I still didnt feel right, there was no way I was gonna stay any longer.
What could be improved
better communication, more staff, more direct contact with the chiefs, the food and in some areas the cleanliness.
"I hope i dont get ill again and have to return!"
