"Terrible, from start to finish, old people who..."

About: Kent & Canterbury Hospital

Anything else?

My father was taken into hospital on Tuesday 06/Wednesday 07 March, and transferred from Margate to Canterbury. He was told that he would have an operation on Thursday 08 March to explore what might be wrong with him. On the morning of Thursday 08 March he was told at 10am that he would be discharged, with no explanation as to why he was not having the operation. He was eventually discharged at 9.00pm, and my 82 year old mother was left to get my 86 year old father home in a taxi, despite that fact that at that stage he was too weak to walk. He was told to come back in two weeks time.

When he got home he was due a visit from the district to check his catheter, which had not in fact been fitted properly. No-one has bothered to visit him so far, and it is now Sunday evening. It is not fitted properly - he is wet and uncomfortable, but like so many of his generation, uncomplaining.

My mother was not given any numbers to ring and no contact names for a visit from the district nurse. All she has is the general NHS number which is quoting 4 hours for an answer. Ridiculous.

The service was was and is completely unacceptable. Old people treated in an appalling way. You should be ashamed.
