My son has a number of allergies and was seen for his first paediatrics appointment last year. A case history was taken and we were assured we would be followed up in 6 months.
We received a telephone reminder for an appointment 5 days before an appointment at the start of this year and the next day (4 days before the appointment) received a letter.
I contacted the department to explain this was unsuitable. We received an appointment with a months notice and I have organised childcare to attend. However we received a letter to inform us that appointment was cancelled and that we had a new appointment for 6 days time (which we would be unable to attend).
10 months after our first appointment we still don’t have a follow up review. It is impossible to attend with such short notice and this is completely outwith the NHS guideline I have read.
