"Excellent and dedicated care in a clean and safe..."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

What I liked

I recently had my first baby at Queens hospital which lasted around 48 hours and ended in a caesarean section. I was then moved to the postnatal ward for 2 days. The staff on Coral Ward, my midwife in the Labour ward, the surgeons/theatre staff and all of the midwives on the postnatal ward were truly excellent - I was given thorough and dedicated care throughout and I felt so well looked after from the beginning of my induction right through to being discharged. My midwife on the labour ward hardly left my side from 8am in the morning until the end of their shift at 9pm; looked after me extremely thoroughly and I'd like to praise the standard of their care. Likewise, once on the postnatal ward, all of the staff were very kind and helpful - they were always on hand to help and they checked on me and baby constantly.

I couldn't find fault with my maternity experience, despite it being very long and ending up in surgery.. I'm aware that Queens have had a lot of bad press of late, especially in the maternity unit, but I certainly didn't experience anything to complain about.

What could be improved

The only thing I would suggest that could be improved are better facilities for partners to stay over with mums during long labours/long recoveries in particular.
