About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

What I liked

One or two of the nurses were excellent , showing they did actually care .

But this was only two out of say ten .

What could be improved

When i was at my lowest point under chemo , one of the so called nurses , would slam her trolley into my door like a battering ram to gain entry, making me nearly jump through the roof , she would then order me to raise my arm,but when i said i couldn't because i was in pain ,she would grab it roughly and yank it up to take my blood pressure .

It was treat like i was an object not a person .

It makes you wonder how many other patients this nurse is treating like this but they are either too sick or too old to complain about her .

Surely there must be ways of weeding out these uncaring nurses .

Anything else?

There should be some way for patients to report nurses who do not treat them properly or do not wash hands etc when treating patients .

When i wanted to report this nurse for her behavior i was told i needed to report her to the staff nurse, who i was told was her best friend .

Thank you for your comments, you can report staff confidentially to the hospital by contacting PALS (the Patient Advice and Liaison Service) which is located in the main lobby or by emailing us on corporate.affairs@chsft.nhs.uk. We are sorry that our service did not meet the standards you could reasonably have expected and for the attitude shown to you. If you would like to contact us, we can investigate in further detail.
