"Rude unprofessional nurse in A&E"

About: Good Hope Hospital

I am appalled by how my 16 year old relative was spoken to by a member of nursing staff in the A&E department today ( 16/1/2019) From the outset the staff nurse who was supposed to be triaging my relative ( in minors)it was evident that she was in a bad mood and was rude and abrupt to the point of making my relative cry. She stood over my young relative firing questions at her and denying her time to reply. I have no confidence in this nurses ability to assess the patient effectively given her aggressive rushed manner. As a member of the Nursing profession myself I am ashamed of the standards and lack of compassion this nurse feels are acceptable. A verbal complaint was made to a senior nurse yet I am not satisfied that this Nurse should be practicing unsupervised. We are now at home consoling a very upset young lady who is nervous about attending further hospital appointments. Clearly this staff member needs training or should perhaps consider a career where patience and compassion is not required.
