I write this on behalf of my employee who attended this centre yesterday with a large painful swelling behind her ear, which despite antibiotics has continued to grow and looked like it needed to be drained. She was assessed by a nurse and had her temperature and blood pressure taken. the nurse looked at the bump and commented that it looked nasty. She was told to take a seat and wait, which she did for two hours and then saw a Dr who took a cursory glance at the bump and told her she wouldn't be able to help her and she should go to A&E.
The reason for writing is to suggest that the initial nursing staff have more knowledge as to what can and cant be treated at the walk in centre so that they can advise patients to go elsewhere earlier in the process rather than having to wait around for hours.
"Staff need better insight as to what can be..."
