"Educational Colonoscopy"

About: Airedale General Hospital

I had a routine colonoscopy at Airedale yesterday.

The staff were excellent throughout the process.

I was treated with respect and the procedure explained clearly.

I then waited about 30 minutes in the TV room before being taken to the theatre.

The theatre was clean and well-equipped and the nurses and consultant friendly and helpful.

I watched the procedure on the screen and the consultant talked me through what he was seeing - it was most educational!

I was given a sedative so there was very little discomfort throughout the 15-20 min procedure.

At the end I was taken to the recovery room on a trolley and the nurses took my readings and made me tea and toast with a nice selection of jams and marmalade.

After 30 mins I was discharged with a print out report of my findings.

The Endoscopy Unit was clean and tidy and well looked-after.

I would like to thank the staff for their efficient, friendly and informative care yesterday.
