My 84 year old husband was rightly given strict instructions not to get out of bed on his own and given a button to press to call a nurse. 8 hours after his admission, we discovered that the plug attached to the button’s cord was not plugged in at the wall. Had my son not been with him as soon as he came back from theatre/recovery, when he was desperate to urinate, goodness knows what would have happened.
Also having fasted from 6 am he was only given two small sandwiches and then a piece of toast, a yoghurt and cup of tea during the rest of the day as the restaurant was closed when we asked for him to have some supper at 8.10 pm.
His hernia operation went well, but he had a post- operative infection and we were unhappy with the way that was handled.
I have made a written complaint but after a speedy acknowledgement have not heard anything for over two months.
