I work at Russell's Hall Hospital on one of the wards. I attended for an ultrasound scan to check my babys growth, I arrived 10 mins late due to parking issues and explained this when I got there. My appointment was at 13.20 and I arrived at 13.30. I wasn't called in till 14.30 after everyone else had been called in before me including people that arrived later than me. When I was finally called in it was then explained by the 2 really lovely synographers of why I had been waiting so long they had explained that my appointment had not been made properly and that I had got missed. They was very kind, appologetic and very informative which was lovely but this is something I should have been told a while before. I cannot fault the service the synographers gave, I wish I had got their names as they really was amazing. I was then told that I needed to be seen in clinic so to go back to the reception and inform them. I told the ward clark I needed to be seen in clinic which in my notes stated that it was booked.. the ward clark said she couldn't find it on the system so to wait to be seen in the day assessment unit. Waited for 15 minutes to be told that I did need to go to clinic but my appointment hadn't been booked so they would just have to fit me in. I then waited another 50 minutes to get called in for the clinic, only to be told that I would need another scan in 2 weeks time and to book in at reception. I was then told that there's no scans available that day so they will call me with a time. Really hope that my next scan isn't like this one. My other complaint is that I parked on the staff car park, I had to drive round 3 different car parks to get a car parking space which made me late to my appointment. And my partner had to come from work as he had an hours lunch and then booked an hour of time off work to come to the scan and clinic appointment with me but he couldn't even park! He drove round the car parks for an hour and couldn't park so I ended up telling him to go back to work.. which is a good job because he wouldn't have even managed to stay with me the whole time because of how long everything took. I hate to complain because I work at this hospital myself but I feel that this needs to change. I shouldn't have been missed and I should have been updated as soon as they realised I had been missed. I understand clinics can be busy and mistakes can be made but after the 1 incident of getting missed I'm annoyed that I then had to wait over another hour for again loads of people to be called infront of me, to be seen by the clinic that again missed me because it was obviously incorrectly booked (notes stated scan and clinic was booked but apparently neither were booked)

We always aim to provide the highest quality services and we are disappointed that we appear to have fallen short on this occasion.

We are sorry to hear that you struggled to find a parking space. The Trust regularly reviews parking provision for staff, patients and visitors and can advise that there is a project currently underway to create further spaces to alleviate some of the current pressure.
