It took 2 years for a referral to finally be done for my daughter and then we experienced constant issues with the ENT department and being provided with misleading information.
After a complaint and sticking to my guns, she finally had bilateral grommet insertion completed. She has had 2 infections since and one that resulted in a visit to out of hours care and then A&E. Due to ongoing chronic pain I contacted ENT who assured me my daughter had an open appointment and gave me number to referrals. They advised me there is no such thing as an open appointment and as she was seen at a local hospital pre op they would not help.
I then contacted the local hospital who said they were unable to assist with a referral but thankfully emailed the consultant. The consultant then requested the GP complete an urgent referral to ENT before they would see her. This has been done and she still has not been seen.
My 9yr old is in chronic pain which is affecting her daily life and as with the LRI they don’t care and are prepared to leave her like this. Absolutely not acceptable. My daughter should be treated with respect and compassion.
