My two year old grandson was projectile vomiting, unable to retain food or liquid and suffering from a temperature of 101 degrees plus. I immediately called the doctor requesting a house call which was refused as only the bedridden receive such visits.
The child was too ill to travel on public transport and I did not have a vehicle equipped and available to transport him to the surgery.
My concern is that the practice is a large one extending to a number of branches and professing to have earned the `investors in people` badge and yet they could not/ would not make a home visit. My question is, `do practices have an obligation to attend to patients in their homes?` I find it despicable that the best advice is `take the child to hospital!`.
