I've had surgery 6 weeks ago, the wound had healed and scab gone. I noticed that a yellow scab had formed and it was bleeding in the night. Saw my surgical team was told to keep and eye on it, go gp or a&e of gets worse.
Came to A&E a few days later as I started getting a lot of pain. Evaluation nurse asked me questions which they led themselves, didn't listen to a word i said and just downplayed every word I could just about get in. I ended up leaving.
Past experience - came to a&e over the course of a couple of months with extreme abdominal pain and history of crohns. Everyone I was turned away. I came there early hours one morning as I was in so much pain I was vomiting. I tried to take pain killers but was still vomiting. The Dr in A&E sat back and leaned in the plastic chair with feet up on desk. Told me blood test was fine and to take pains killers and go home. After explaining to him the amount of pain I was in, which was hard as I could barely speak, and him witnessing my vomiting my pain killers up he still sent me home. I then passed out on the living room floor and woke up 1-2 house later barely able to move and unable to say anything. I text my girlfriend to call my gp and explain. She then text me and told me to go a&e and he was faxing over a letter. Turns out I needed major surgery, total of over 7 hours. Also for months they were giving me doses of steroids for just 5 days, which I was then told by a specialist was useless for of treatment for that kind of duration.
Same situation when I was 1st diagnosed. Sent home for months until one day I lost so much blood I had 4 transfusions and a 2 and half month stay in hospital.
I WOULD NOT recommend this A&E service.unless you show up with a letter from your gp or another medical professional nothing seems to get done. On top of that unfriendly staff without any patience.
On a side note I have had nothing but good experiences in wards and with my surgical and medical team over the past 10 years so it isn't all bad.
