"Oral Maxillo Facial Department"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

My husband was treated in this department in June 2018 when he had a tooth removed. He was told that a further appointment would be sent for further treatment because he needs to have a further two more teeth removed due to infection and pain. We have been waiting for this appointment for 7 months. The pain has flared up again in the past few weeks so we have called several times with the hope of speaking to someone to get some answers. I have called on his behalf, the secretary then puts me on hold then the phone cuts off, I call back via switch and I am now 30th in the queue!!! I have called several times since, the queue is very long. I called PALS to find out if they can help, they took the details and will get back to us. Not only is it frustrating but my husband is now complaining of regular headaches and pain, he believes is all associated with the teeth that needs to be removed and wants to wait for the appointment. I work for the NHS myself and I am aware that waiting lists are long and appointments are also difficult to get but to have no communication, to have difficulty phoning a department but also not knowing who to speak to for the right help is very disappointing. What are his options?

Thank you for your feedback about the difficulties you have had getting through to speak to someone in the Oral and Maxillo Facial department about your husband's appointment.

I will make the service manager of the team aware of your experience as it is of course unacceptable that you have had such trouble being able to speak to someone.

In the meantime, should you have such difficulties again, then the PALS team can help, and I understand that you have already been in contact with them.

I hope that the PALS team were able to help and confirm a date for your husband's next appointment.

Thank you once again for taking the time to leave your feedback for us.

Kind regards

Peter Hare
