"This Hospital is an excellent example of N.H. S..."

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

From Reception to Triage the staff were very polite and welcomed me waiting only a short time to be called by the Duty G.P. at the Urgent Care Centre

I am a retired Senior Nurse Manager having served in almost every Speciality in the National Health Service for 40 years

.

I had an accidental injury almost two years ago and still suffering from the injuries sustained.and have never had a thorough examination by any

Doctor due to the limited amount of time allowed for interviews/examinations /conversations relating to presenting conditions

I touched on this during my

Consultation with regards to an agonising pain in my Spine and the wing of my Pelvis which made it difficult for me to walk.

A particular consultant interviewed me in a very comprehensive fashion which put me at ease and made me feel confident in his approach to diagnosis

I was invited to sit on the examination couch to enable him to carry out a full Orthopaedic examination./assessment

The duty GP then concluded Trochanteric Bursitis and also SI joint sprain in the Right. Hip.

After this, he explained my needs for further management. since various anatomical anomalies needed to be investigated which he reported in great detail

An A4 page summary of my "Top to Toe" assessment of my Health Status was given to me to pass on to my G.P. for this purpose

I was very impressed with his examination skills since as a retired Senior Nurse I managed an Orthopaedic Outpatient Service in addition to serving many eminent Surgeons in a professional career and recognised the consultant's high level of expertise

This was the only examination that I have had since my Accident over 18 months ago.

I can now move forward as a "Warrior" to get the treatment that I need since I miss the life I enjoyed before my accident

Thank-you the duty GP and the team at Bournemouth Royal Hospital Dorset

, I will always be grateful for the care and attention and time I was given to enable me to enjoy the rest of my stay.

Dear Anonymous

Thank you for your feedback about your recent visit to our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC). It is a shame to hear you have been in pain for two years with no firm diagnosis from previous Dr’s you have seen.

I do hope that the comprehensive examination you received during your consultation and the report you are able to take back to your GP in Welwyn Garden City helps you to get the correct treatment to resolve the problems you are having.

We will forward your kind comments on to the UTC manager to share with his staff as it is always nice to receive positive comments from patients about the service provided and knowing that the expertise, diligence and care shown by the consultant has enabled you to feel like a warrior to get the treatment you need.

We wish you well for the future and hope your health condition soon improves.

Regards

Patient Experience Team
