I was taken in around 9am on Xmas day with a potential blood clot in my left arm, within about an hour I was told I had to have an operation to remove a blood clot, this was not something I had expected to be having on Xmas day and was very nervous about the whole thing. After the surgeon explained the best and worst outcomes (amputation) to me I was off for my operation.
Sadly the clot came back overnight and a 2nd operation was needed, this also clotted again overnight, I was told by the doctors I needed to rest my arm after both operations. The following day I had 2 more operations which thankfully worked.
I was on ward 15 in the Jubilee Wing all this time and got to know the staff very well, without them I couldn’t have got through it, after being told I could potentially be losing my left arm I was really upset by the thought of losing my arm, but everyone who worked on the ward on all shifts were so caring which I know must have been difficult for them over the Xmas/New year period.
I would like to thank everyone on ward 15 for looking after me, I really appreciate all The hard work you do. 😁
