My husband attended the Birch Unit for a routine operation in January. I can honesty say that the care and compassion displayed by the staff was exemplary. Everyone we came across on the unit displayed the highest standards of care and whoever is in charge should be extremely proud of the team. My husband was very anxious however each member of staff showed empathy and kindness. It’s the small things that add up from the Nurse who took my husband to surgery to the one that let me see him for 5mins when he initially came round - thank you, I don’t know your name but you were amazing- your kindness helped.
Everyone we came across who worked on 14.01.19 were polite and kind despite working in tough circumstances trying to juggle beds for patients.
The staff at the end of the day were also amazing - thank you to the team who were supportive as he was being discharged.
Please keep doing what you do!
I hope the CQC see this feedback as from our experience this unit is safe, well-led, caring, effective and responsive.
