Yes Shocked that after a though examination, I was diagnosed with (industrial) Deafness in both of my ears.
This came as a complete surprise to me as after a consultation at a litchfield road Stafford surgery 6 years previous that my right ear only had slight damage, which at the time was a little surprising and supplied me with a very basic aid and a moulded ear piece. This I found was very difficult to get on with but i persevered. It was an improvement but I always thought i was under water.
On the back of this I unfortunately damaged the Aid and went to my GP to be referred to County Hospital Audiology after I also explained that I was struggling to hear.
Well as I said a very thorough examination of which I have never received before by the Audiologist and I received good instruction and much better hearing aids from her.
Shocked - as I said but left with a skip in my step as I could hear very clearly at last and the wife was over the moon as we could have a proper conversation.
I had a back up appointment to see how i was getting on with my new aids with another Audiologist very thorough once again and was politely brutal of my future hearing of which I thankful and learnt a lot. I asked a lot of questions and the audiologist was very informative and a nice person to talk to.
So I would just like to say thank you to the Audiology department at County Hospital Stafford for sorting me out , and supplying some very smart and unobtrusive hearing aids
Kind Regards
Mr Stephen C Welham
