"End of life care"

About: Larkfield Unit

(as a relative),

My uncle was in ward 3 of the Larkfield unit of Royal Inverclyde Hospital for a number of months. Initially this was for rehabilitation following a fall. He was not making the level of progress expected and was eventually diagnosed as having a terminal illness. I sat with him for his last couple of days and I cannot praise the staff highly enough for the level of care given to him and the support and care given to me over that period. The care went beyond excellent professional standards, all the staff I had contact with showed real concern for his comfort and that of his visitors, all done with a light touch.

Thank you for sending such a kind and appreciative message to Patient Opinion at this sad and difficult time for you and your family. Please accept our condolences to you and your family at the passing of your Uncle.

We were so pleased to read that your Uncle, you and your Uncle's visitors felt so well cared and supported during this sad time - we will ensure that the staff are made aware of your comments so they can see your level of appreciation of the support offered and delivered.

It is heartening for staff to receive such comments and I thank you once again for taking the time and trouble to post such a positive message about how staff provided such sensitive treatment and care at a difficult and sad time for everyone.

With kindest regards,

John
