"Promised MRI scan referral not made"

About: Southmead Hospital

I had a neurosurgery appointment and it was agreed I would have a head scan.

I rang yesterday to get some idea of how long the wait would be, ie whereabouts I was on the list.

Radiology told me no referral had been made.

I was not on the list.

The neurosurgeon’s secretary confirmed that no referral had been made, and that the neurosurgeon was now away for 2 weeks.

Hopefully the scan will be booked after the weekend by the registrar but if I hadn’t rung to check where I was on the list, I would have been waiting and waiting for a scan appointment which would not have come.

Dear Anonymous,

I am sorry that you had such a poor experience, and that when you rang to ascertain how long you may be waiting for your head scan, you were informed that no referral had been made by your neurosurgeon.

Pease can you contact us with your name and date of birth, so that we can ascertain why this happened and to ensure that you receive an appointment.

You can contact me on 0117 414 4567 or email Complaints@nbt.nhs.uk

Yours sincerely, Sue Needs, Deputy Advice & Complaints Team Manager.
