I am a carer for a gentleman who had a number of falls over the recent months, fortunately without any serious damage. He was referred to the falls clinic at Kirklandside Hospital which he attended every Friday for a few weeks for physiotherapy. The impact this has had has been great, he does not shuffle so much which caused him to trip over his own feet, much more steady on this feet.
One of the therapists also came out to his house, this has resulted in hand rails being fitted in the shower, by his toilet, banister rails on both sides of the stairs and on the both sides of the outside steps. The suppliers gave an excellent service, they made sure there were no other adaptations that could be made to help him.
All these changes have made a great difference for both of us, he is more confident getting around and I don't feel so worried about him.
