"I honestly couldn’t have got through it without the staff"

About: University Hospital Of North Tees / Paediatrics

(as the patient),

When I gave birth to my twins at 35 weeks I wasn’t quite prepared for reheat was to come next. The boys were admitted to ward 23, special care which for any new mum is worrying and frustrating. Especially when you are discharged and you go home without your babies. However what made this experience so much easier was the staff, the real hero’s in our boys care. They literally kept me going and were always there to wipe my tears, involve us in the care of the twins and go above and beyond to ensure that the welfare of the boys came first but also that I was ok. They allowed us to stay on the ward and supported us where needed. When I was having a tough time they worked hard to pick me off even if it was to feed the boys whilst I slept. I honestly couldn’t have got through the last 10 days without the staff on this ward!
