i was admitted for a risk of preterm labour at heartlands maternity. it was 7.30ish and i was starving with no money. i was told no food or sandwich on ward (26wks preg btw) i was given cereal and milk as i had been admitted without notice i only had a few coins and a bus pass.
i was given a gown and i highlighted i had thrush and needed my cream and i was on iron tablets 3x a day and aspirin. i felt ignored as i requested the medication until the day inleft i had only been given 1x aspirin once a day and 1x iron tablets drspite nurses saying they will let the doctor know. i had maternity notes too which clearly said my prescriptions.
my bedding was not changed for 2 days so one day i stripped the bed and askd to put new sheets myself hcs came in and made a fool of me. iexplained i had the same sheets for over 2 days they rolled their eyes n left. i asked for an extra pillow fur to back ache and was told there is a policy of one pillow each bt when another student midwifr came i asked her and she said yes there are loads and got me one.
mealitimes we were told that was the onlyfood there so we couldnt ask for a diff option. i ended up eating halaal whc is against my religion as there was nothing and a few asian ladies ended up not eating as there was no halaal for them. in the mornings we were given 1 slice of toast and if we asked for more its as if we had asked for a buffet.
after staying 3 days i had experienced enough. i changed hospitals as i would never have loved to be there for my delivery. no food no sheets changed all we wanted was sensible meals as prgnant ladies as no cooked food was allowed. 1st and worst hospital experience. ohh may i mention showers and loos had chunks of blood and even to report these the cleaners hcas would make it seem as if you are being a pain.
"all we wanted was sensible meals as pregnant ladies"
