"Complete farce"

About: Leicester General Hospital

i was booked in for a nerve block injection, a procedure I have had a couple of times before with a Doctor who has now retired, in December. Time was booked off work, at a busy time prior to Christmas only to be contacted the day before to have the appointment cancelled. Apparently the doctor scheduled to carry out the injection had checked his list and was not trained to do the injection. I was contacted to arrange another appointment at which time I asked them to check that the doctor was capable of doing the injection. I took another day off work (losing a day's pay) starved for 6 hours, got a train and then a bus to LGH. I was booked in and had my obs done before seeing the doctor. On looking at the notes he said sorry I cannot do the injection as it isn't a procedure I can do and then left. Credit to the staff in Daycase unit 1 who contact Pain Management immediately to try and sort something out and also provided me with something to eat and drink. However I feel very disappointed with the pain clinic especially after highlighting the problem with the previous appointment and also being out of pocket for transport costs for myself and my wife. I am now waiting to see how this can be resolved and if there is anybody that can carry out the procedure.
