"Glucose test in pregnancy"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Maternity unit

(as a service user),

I had my glucose test at 28 weeks. I was advised that if there was any issues they would phone within a day or 2. 2 weeks later, no phone call and no results posted on the maternity app which I was checking a minimum of 3 times per day. At my midwife appointment I mentioned my results were not available yet. She checked and told me they were high. This was followed by saying that some people just fall through the cracks. Having now to wait another two weeks to be seen without any advice, guidance or even an explanation about what this means for my baby and me. Disappointed in forth valley hospital during this pregnancy. Not the first issue this time.

Dear Missmc888

Thank you for sharing your experience of our service with us.

Pregnancy is a wonderful and exciting time but can also be a worrying time especially where tests are concerned. I am sorry to hear that there has been a delay with your results and follow-up and that you feel let down and disappointed with the response and lack of explanations from our staff. I can understand and appreciate the anxiety this will have caused you.

I would be more than happy to look in to the reasons for the delay and the other issues that you have encountered if you would like to get in touch with me to discuss. I can be contacted via email at gailbell@nhs.net or via telephone on 01324567484.

I hope the remainder of your pregnancy will be less stressful and you can enjoy the anticipation of your little baby's' birth.

With best wishes

Gail
