Contacted gp surgery four weeks ago. And was offered a telephone consultantion as they were busy. Accepted and then when I was sat waiting for the call the time came and went. When I checked my phone there was a message from the GP. Stating that they were not able to get through to me. I find this strange as the surgery always gets through. The GP stated I re call and make another appointment for a call back. I tried to call back but no reply. I come to the conclusion if I got had got through I would now be at the back of the qeue. Also I'd have to wait for weeks for a call back. It is in my opinion the Dr used their own private phone in the room and it does not allow calls to my phone or outside lines . It cannot be added as the number is private for and unshown for obvious reasons. They need to use a none private number to get through to patients. Just like the front desk is able to. I have no intention of making and waiting for a call. In future I will ask for a face to face meeting. I suggest the surgery has a dedicated none private phone installed to stop missed or redirect calls so as to not inconvenience both parties and undermine the reasons for telephone consultantions.
