"An offensive GP incapable of listening"

About: Walm Lane Surgery

I visited this Walm Lane Surgery on Wednesday 9 January. I was told all GPs ( this is often the case with this surgery where it's impossible to get to see the same GP at short notice) I normally see were fully booked. One appointment was available with a GP I had seen before 2 weeks before and not being very impressed with.

I saw him because I had a chest infection but last week I visited as I have what it seemed dermatitis around my left eye. He remembered of me and asked how I was. I explained I was better but I was there for an eye problem. He looked at my eye and told me

I was having an allergic reaction to contact lenses solutions or make-p. I explained I had not worn any make-up or contact lenses for two weeks so that this was unlikely to be the case.

He insisted I must be allergic to something and prescribed antihistamine drops a hydrocortisone cream. I told him I suffer from non allergic dermatitis and on hearing this he said: “They should put a Fragile label on you and wrap you on cotton wool with all the problems you have". I was appalled and hurt to hear he found acceptable to joke on my health problems. I was also totally frustrated as he did not listen to what I told him and prescribed unhelpful medications to people suffering from Dermatitis.

My eye problem is still pretty bad!

Thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns regarding the difficulties you experienced in trying to book an appointment with the GP you normally would see and the service you experienced with a GP at the practice.

Appointment Booking issue:

We do not know if you were made aware or offered an appointment with one of our local GP HUBs. These clinics have been set up to alleviate some of the pressure at GP surgeries for appointments and to lessen the wait for patients.

This is the start of many initiatives that the NHS is introducing for patients to access medical treatment at different venues and how services are offered to patients.

We also have daily emergency sessions in both the a.m. and the p.m.

We would like to apologise if you were not offered these options at point of booking.

The service you received by a GP:

We have addressed your concerns in writing as an answer to the letter you sent us.
