"Life saving treatment."

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Neurology Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Neurosurgery

(as the patient),

I was 23 and I had a rare stroke. I'm so grateful to the staff at this hospital - I was 7 months pregnant and I had a rare stroke due to a blood clot on the brain.

The surgeons had to deliver my baby and then perform brain surgery on me. They had to remove part of my skull so the brain could swell out it would've gone down and got stuck. I would've died if it wasn't for the live saving treatment I received. My case was that rare that the hospital staff asked to use it in a meeting and I agreed so it could help other people the surgeons saved my life and my baby's life she was only 2lb 4oz but fast forward 4 months later she is a fantastic 8lb baby.

Thank you for leaving feedback and for sharing your experience. This must have been incredibly frightening for you. It really will mean a great deal to the Neurology and Neurosurgery teams to receive your kind words and we are all so pleased to know that your baby is doing well.

With thanks and all best wishes
