I was unable to reach the surgery by phone today in order to arrange an appointment to see a Doctor or nurse so walked into town (25 mins) even though feeling unwell.
At the surgery, even though I explained I was in pain, I was told that I could not have an appointment today.
Bear in mind that there is no surgery Saturday or Sunday so basically no appointment for at least 3 days.
I have had to walk home in the cold and in pain.
I explained that I needed medication for what I suspect is cystitis - having suffered from this for 40 years I recognise the symptoms which can worsen considerably without medication.
I have left a sample of urine to be tested and am awaiting a phone call, at midday, to advise the results. Depending on the results I will have to walk back into town later today to pick up medication, if prescribed. And then walk back again - in pain and feeling very unwell. In the past if the doctors were busy then patients were asked to wait.
I was prepared to wait, but was not offered the option.
This is not a good service.
It is run on the premise that only the strong shall survive.
Is this the future of the NHS?
