"It seems to me that no-one who should be helping wants to help"

About: Northumberland Care Trust

(as the patient),

I am not surprised so many people kill themselves, because in my opinion there has been zero care available for me when I feel suicidal from those with a so-called 'duty of care'.

Since before Christmas I've been in a serious reactive depression crisis, which my GP is well aware of as I've explained it to him several times how much I struggle each day not to kill myself and how some years back I used to cut myself, and enjoyed it, so I have no fear of slashing my wrists - and constantly I have such an urge daily to do that. Yet every time I tell him he just sits there and literally says nothing. It's quite unbelieveable.

He gave me two weeks of pills, which had terrible side-effects; followed by two more weeks of other pills that did nothing. But he's offered no other help/support whatsoever.

A lot of my problem is about my home situation and after Christmas I couldn't cope anymore so I emailed the council to tell them, which made them call the police to see if I was still alive! Even telling this to my GP got no response.

Last week I missed my appointment with him, because there seems no point going anymore - yet with him knowing I'm suicidal and so may have been dead, no-one from the GP surgery phoned me to check.

I think this is how so many people give up and kill themselves, because it seems to me that no-one who should be helping wants to help.

For thousands like me in the UK we struggle to get through each minute and we are so ill and so lost, and all we need is for someone to show they care that we're alive; yet in my case it feels like those with a 'duty of care' do not .

It's such a shame and it shouldn't happen. From my perspective, I think it's so easy to care - it only takes a minute and a few kind words to make all the difference. It hasn't felt to me, through all my experiences to date, that the people I've encountered in the NHS have been able to do this.

Thank you for reading this.
