My father passed away in the ICU of Northwick Park Hospital on 1st Jan 2019; I was able to be present when passed.
This was my first experience of seeing how an ICU operates; the care provided to my father (and as I far as could tell all of the other patients) was absolutely outstanding. I was humbled by how much attention and constant care was given to my father all of which was completed in a sympathetic and pragmatic way.
I was able to speak one-to-one with the consultant who clearly and articulately presented me with all of the facts and the treatments that were being delivered. I was included in the final (and painful) decision not to continue to resuscitate my father when it was clearly not a viable option.
Well done to each and every one of you, and thank you.
