"Judgement is based on two experiences and i..."

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

I wish to leave a comment following my previous experience when I met a junior doctor who professionally treated me with respect and dignity through out the whole journey and at the time I was not in a good place due to complexity of my accident from falling off a building in Ibiza which resulted in myself being put into an induced coma and then arrived back into the uk with a number of complex conditions, but slowly recovery and with hope I will better one day soon. At the time i never gave feedback and to be honest I felt at the time a need to do so but never did and I am sorry.

Last week a friend of mine contacted me to say he was in hospital at A and E due to shortness of breath. I was in the area and parked up outside A & E Department. I noticed whilst sat in my car a gentlemen appearing poorly on the floor. I dived out of my car, ran into A and E and shouted for to the reception staff that the gentlemen was having a seizure and that they needed to call for emergency assistance. Reception responded by raising the emergency alarm (sirens going off) with doctors, nurses, healthcare assistant and porters running to the area concerned. I put the gentlemen in recovery and reassured the gentlemen that help was on his way and ensured he was breathing.

Immediately the staff responded and was exceptional, the same doctor who treated me when i came in from my initial visit and then to see her again and the way herself and medics as a team gave one another respect and worked well as a team. The gentlemen thanked me and I gave my hand to him, and shaken it, and said he was more than welcome.

I appreciate some people may have a dislike to the service they have received but I truly believe from my own experience this hospital is very passionate about care, and that they have a strong workforce. I live more closer to Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust which is exceptional with care, this trust is not far behind them, and I truly hope you continue to save life's and enjoy and achieve.

Best wishes,

Kyle Statham.

Dear Kyle,

Thank you for your positive comments posted on the NHS website regarding your care at Wythenshawe Hospital. It was very kind of you to take the time to write and compliment the staff as it is good to receive positive feedback which reflects all their hard work and dedication. It was reassuring to read that you felt the Junior Doctor involved in your care and treatment treated you professionally and with respect and dignity throughout your whole journey. The Trust has introduced a Behavioural framework called 'Together Care Matters' within which all members of the nursing and medical teams practice so it was reassuring to read that We are also pleased to read that you feel the hospital is very passionate about care and have a strong workforce.

We would also like to thank you for the feedback you provided during the incident which occurred outside the Accident & Emergency Department at Wythenshawe Hospital. It is encouraging that you felt the team response was exceptional and that they were respectful and worked well together to assist the gentleman in need. I can assure you that we have passed all of your feedback to the Head of Nursing who will share it with the wider team within the department.
