"Lack of communication and basic decision making..."

About: Granville Medical Centre

Having registered 9 months ago I have always had difficulty with accessing repeats, appointments (diary full and staff take forever to pick up the phone), at best on-line gives one option(?) However my main source of concern is the game-playing around my name. I registered in my maiden name, my pre-payment and EHIC card match this, when prescriptions are sent to the chemist they are in this name. Then, without rhyme or reason (certainly not contacting me) the practice reverted to my married name. The chemist suddenly never had my medicines. There were whole weeks when I went without medications for my complex conditions. The GP was never available. The mystery dragged on. Eventually the problem was rectified but this took myself, a senior pharmacist and several weeks. Unacceptable. A total breakdown in communication.

Then, again without any basis for this decision being communicated, my medication was altered to one my Consultant had advised I never take (causes me to injure myself walking into furniture). Another delay. I began to order my medication over the internet to receive a reliable supply. My conditions require constant medication and my GP’s meddling was jepodising this.

Then, with no reason, the GP suddenly reverted back to my married name. Again my only clue this had occurred was the logistical nightmare of tracing missing prescriptions. What has this surgery got against communicating, using relevant data and ensuring that patient care is paramount? If it were not for the internet I would have been disabled by the lack of medication for 3 illnesses. As someone reluctant to trust the internet I am a convert - they are to be trusted over my Practice and always get my name right! Why is it such a trial to view my medical history, repeats and messages? Why is this service so hap-hazard? For all my Surgery knows these medications could have been life-saving. As it is they prevent my being house-bound. I find it incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional to play Russian roulette with peoples medical records (their names/medications) in a way which deems their medications inaccessible.

IAt the end of 2018 I was one name (last prescription and internet access) . Today I find I am a new person and the text Informing me that medications are ready has not arrived. Hmmmm.who is responsible? How ironic that staff never have the time to see people (I was ignored for an hour last time as the GP was running an hour late), or to answer phones but when it comes to games of Guess Who their resources are seemingly unlimited. A very disappointing experience and both physically and emotionally draining. It is Surgeries like this which give the NHS a bad name, after all , for all the effort extended how many prescriptions for the correct medication , in the correct patient name, have I received? I shall go elsewhere but feel forced out as my name/illness does not suit. God save internet pharmacies & excellent customer service. Convenient and accurate.
