"Supportive end of life care"

About: Kidsgrove Medical Centre

In 2018 my mother, who was 91 years of age, had been suffering from Alzheimer's and other conditions for 10 years. In January/February she had numerous visits to A & E at the Royal Stoke following a series collapses and a lack of energy. She suffered a broken hip while in respite and was eventually transferred to a nursing home for palliative care.

The Matron from Dr. Harbidge & Partners practice provided a great support to my mother and her family. Mum's condition improved over the next few months as a result of Matron's and the nursing home's care. Mum even managed to play the piano again despite having such a rough year.

Unfortunately in late November Mum's condition worsened again but we were kept informed of her treatment and supported, by the Doctor and Matron from Dr. Harbidge & Partners, until she peacefully passed away on December 6th 2018.

The care and compassion shown to my Mother and her family was outstanding and I would recommend the practice to anyone.

Thank you for your comments. We are very fortunate to have invested in our excellent service delivered by our experienced practice matron, a service which we are very proud of.

It aims to improve the quality of life for our frail elderly population, and thus is a good example of how this service has enhanced the life of one of our patients through holistic management.
