"Abortion Pill 7 weeks"

About: Bpas (merseyside Clinic)

I waited just over 2 weeks for my appointment and was advised the time given is the time I arrive and not the time I will be seen, I was told over the phone to expect to be at the clinic for up to 5 hours.

On the day I arrived I was given a medical history form to fill out and then was taken to a waiting room and within about half an hour I was seen by the first member of staff who looks over your form first and then calls you in to go over your details and make sure everything is ok.

After the first consultation I was called in to the nurse to have a dating scan and she also checked my temp and blood pressure. The nurse was absolutely lovely and had such a calming presence, she made me feel so at ease - thank you! Before she done the dating scan she told me I would not see or hear anything unless I wanted to, which I didn’t. She also asked if it was twins would I want her to tell me, again this was not something I wanted to know. After the scan she confirmed my dates were correct that I was a single pregnancy and I was eligible for the full treatment that day. She advised legally she now had to get the procedure signed off and that this can take an hour or so and was free to leave the clinic for that time.

After coming back to the clinic I waited about another 30/40 mins and then was called in for the last time. Here I was given an anti sickness tablet and a tablet to stop the pregnancy, I was also given 4 tablets which I had to insert vaginally, you can do this yourself or the nurse is happy to do it if you don’t feel able. The nurse also explained that I should start to bleed within 2-4 hours. She gave me antibiotics to take later on and you are also given codeine. She also gave me a test, which is similar to a pregnancy test, and wrote on the box the date I am to take it to make sure that the abortion has been successful. After that you are free to go. I was at the clinic in total for about 3.5 hours.

For me, the bleeding and cramps started just over 4 hours later, this was the part I was dreading after reading some horror stories online, I was expecting to be in agony and this was just not the case. I did get some cramping but these were bearable and the codeine helped ease them and they soon passed.

I took the tablets to end the pregnancy at about 12:30pm and by about 9pm the same night I had passed the pregnancy, the whole experience was less scary than I expected and it is now the day after and it feels like I am just having a heavy period and I’m not having any painful cramps anymore.

The entire staff that seen to me at the clinic were fantastic, especially the nurse who done my scan, she made me feel so calm and relaxed. Keeping the pregnancy was never an option for me so as long as you are certain that this is what you want I imagine your experience at the clinic will go smoothly. The whole experience was easier than I expected and I am so grateful I had access to this service, not everyone is as lucky.
