I have recently received a letter advising about a new outpatient appointment arranged for me at this clinic. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this appointment, due to leaving the area, so I attempted to phone the department to discuss options.
However there is no number for the department on the letter, so I ended up having to phone the trust's main number. Despite spending 20 minutes holding the line and the promise (on the letter) of an answering machine if the office was closed or busy, I had my call dropped by the receptionist/operator as soon as I reached the front of the queue.
I would have at least expected to be given a change to leave a message on the promised answering machine but instead I am left needing to call back again (hoping my call will be taken) and the department will be left with an unnecessarily booked appointment which could have been offered to someone else for another day.
