"Successful procedure"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Cardiology Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Cardiology & Coronary Care Unit

(as a service user),

Explanation that full assessment could take up to 4 hours. Thereafter every stage was explained...Self and wife seated comfortably throughout initial blood tests and evaluations, with questions always answered fully . Surprised to be offered sandwiches and tea! Initial diagnosis carefully explained, and further ongoing consultation was arranged with unit doctors and GP. Later admitted to assessment ward, for further assessment and discussion. Consequently admitted to cardiac ward...analogous to hotel! Transferred overnight to cardiac ward in Edinburgh for pacemaker procedure.

Again small ward, positive staff and impeccable cleanliness. Procedure coincided with my 81st birthday - celebrated by staff and patients! Actual procedure fully explained before, during and throughout.

Discharged following successful procedure, and follow-up visit now completed - notable for detailed explanation by cardiac physiologist. Very many thanks to clinical, nursing and administrative staff.

THANK YOU LARBERT!

Dear Alan N

Thank you for telling us about your experience being looked after here in Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert and also in Edinburgh where you sound as though you had a very special birthday! I glad the procedure went well and you were able to celebrate becoming 81 in style. Currently the majority of our patients undergo pacemaker procedures in Edinburgh and it's really important to us to hear that they continue to do a great job looking after Forth Valley patients so well.

I am especially pleased that you found the environments you were in clean and comfortable and that staff in both centres were caring and positive and able to provide the explanations you needed. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We look forward to continuing to look after you for pacemaker check ups in the future.

With best wishes

Catherine

Dear Alan N,

I hope this finds you well and enjoying being back home after your procedure.

It is very kind of you to take the time to feedback to us your experience of the health service. As said previously, it is always helpful for staff to know that they are providing a level of care that makes a difference to the patient's journey.

Continue to take of yourself.

Carolyn
