I gave birth to my daughter last year in the labour ward at William Harvey. The staff there were excellent; very calm, compassionate and understanding. I felt well looked after and listened to. I had a long labour and was given pain relief when requested, I felt reassured that my baby would be delivered safely. I met lots of different midwives who were all very friendly and introduced themselves and I had an excellent student midwife that stayed with me the whole time. I was well looked after throughout the whole labour process and staff were very good after giving birth with stitches, a bath and a very welcome cup of tea! I felt I had world class care and would definitely have my next one at Ashford.
The Folkestone ward was where we were moved to for postnatal care. We shared a award with three other new mothers and babies. It was around half past 10 at night when we were moved and my husband was allowed to stay the night there. We were regularly monitored during the night, help was given with breastfeeding and our needs were met. The only niggle was that one midwife took my baby to have some formula when I couldn't breastfeed straight away, but I was so exhausted, I think I was probably grateful for the rest! We were slow to be discharged in the morning but that was due to staffing. Overall, we had a wonderful birthing and postbirth experience at Ashford and would definitely recommend
