I am writing this on behalf of my mum who is currently receiving treatment, she is 95 years old, I am her carer. We are more critical than most as we lost her youngest son to Basildon Hospital due to mistakes in 2008, NOT at this department, it was a very traumatic time.
However, I have to say that mum’s treatment has been exceptional, we worried that because of her age she would not receive good care and treatment. But our fears were unfounded, mum was treated with respect and kindness and the care and treatment was second to none.
I see that there have been negative reviews regarding waiting for the phone to be answered and long waiting times, but I would put this down to Government cut backs and lack of funding. The staff who are at the sharp end work very hard in this environment day after day.
