"Appreciation of care given to my 3yr old son..."

I would like to thank this service for the care and time given to my family this evening. I was listened to as a mother and my child was assessed & diagnosis/treatment was given. The practitioner who saw us was lovely and I felt confident in his abilities. Good professional skills in all aspects.

Background: 3yr old twins had both just had chicken pox as well as vomiting bug over Xmas. (Prior to this had two courses of antibiotics for tonsillitis). So generally gone through a lot in December. Gone to bed as usual last night but son had woken an hour later totally distress, screaming that ears where hurting. After over an hour of no improvement with every distraction trick known & paracetamol 111 was contacted for advice. Throughout 30min conversation he continued to scream. No out of hours doctors locally available so as most likely ear infection to take to own gp in the morning. Sat at own gp surgery for 2 hrs waiting to be seen, very quick review with poor bedside skills - viral diagnosis given (videos of distress shown but dismissed as calm during assessment). By afternoon we had screaming again and my son was shouting at me to help him, please make it stop. Burfen & calpol given at max dose with little effect. Checked online & took to Rugy walk in - child distress now for over 2 hrs period straight (unusual behavior) and continued whilst waiting in department- informed when we went in for assessment they don’t assess children so would need to go elsewhere. Saw MH urgent care on a quick internet check and were seen, sorted and on our way home within an hour. Given an explanation of issues that was expected to cause such pain (fluid behind ear drum), course of antibiotics, advice if no improvement.

Thank you again Market Harborough.
