I just wanted to take the time to say thank you to the Charge Nurse who looked after my brother in law when he was admitted in excruciating pain on New Years Eve. It is fair to say that we did experience delays in administering pain relief due to an increase in the number of admissions in a short space of time and it did feel like he was initially forgotten about until I asked what was happening. The nurse was really professional and acted quickly to ensure pain was managed and steps taken to try and assess cause of pain. Thank you. Upon being admitted to SAU we were met by the most helpful Doctor who spoke to us in a really down to earth way explaining everything. Nothing was too much trouble including arranging for something to eat and drink once nil by mouth had been ruled out. I didn't get his name but thank you to that Doctor too. Porters and the person that came with us as he was transferred were really sociable and helped me locate the phone for the taxi. So there was an initial delay and he was in excruciating pain - that bit could have been handled more quickly but after that everything was dealt with quickly and efficiently and in a really sociable and helpful way. Many thanks to everyone involved.
