"recent stay as inpatient"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

I recently spent a short period as an inpatient, entering the hospital system via ‘walk in centre’ (not sure of current official title of this facility)

From that point straight through until I was discharged, I was very impressed with whole process and treatment I received.

I presented with (what I now know) to be a complicated, confusing set of symptoms.

The way that the various specialities, from Emergency Medicine, ENT, Rheumatology, plus other specialities I may not be aware of, all worked together in a seamless, coordinated fashion was an exemplar of good practice.

I was discharged at 19:30 on Tuesday evening and I have already been contacted by the hospital to notify me of a Vein Biopsy arrange for me this Friday morning.

The only slightly negative comment I have is the perennial one of the time to obtain ‘Take Out Medicines’.

The current process seems to contain an element of ‘bed blocking’ (mine was still ‘occupied’) and seems very inefficient and non-optimised.

Also, please pass my complements onto the medical departments/specialities/staff involved.

A very grateful patient.

PS. unrelated to my stay in hospital, I would also like to record my admiration and gratitude to the IBD Nurse team. They ALWAYS respond rapidly to emails and phone calls requesting valuable advice.
