"Appointment system"

About: University Hospital Of Wales

(as a service user),

Ater waiting  6 months for an outpatient appointment, I receieved a letter last week giving me an appointment date. The letter stated that if I didnt confirm the appointment within 6 days, it would be cancelled and offered to another person.- but within 6 days of what? The date the letter was sent?  Given the time of year the letter was delayed and potentially people are away over the xmas period, so not a good start

I can't attend on the date sent so phoned the number given. No option to speak to a person, just  an automated response asking me to go through a number of options and input info via the phone keypad. Not good experience and can imagine awful for those who find these things difficult. At the end of it, the message was we will send you another appointment. aargh! No option to choose a date at this point so potentially might have to go through the whole thing again and wasteful for all concerned

Not a good patient experience so far
