"some staff need to think before they speak"

About: BPAS Richmond CC/Clinic

Visited here with my very nervous and upset 16 year old. Told to be there for 8.30am and not seen till 10am by a nurse who to put it mildly needs to rethink how she talks to people. My daughter was ready to have an implant but was a little unsure so i told her it was the best option and she could have it removed if it really was awful, the nurse then stated "no dr will take it out for months" thanks, my daughter then changed her mind....not helpful as she opted for the pill which could see her pregnant again!

Of course she could have it removed if it didn't work for her, please advise your nurse to give correct information.

I found the first nurse we spoke to a little judgemental but after her the nurses were brilliant, very caring and they helped my daughter get through a difficult time. On having the procedure we were told that my daughter just had to see nurse for antibiotics and the pill. This took over an hour and again unfortunately the nurse chose to see others before us even though we were before them, i did ask what the delay was and she was rather blunt with me, i only asked as we were being left for ages and my daughter was becoming distressed and i just wanted to take her out and get her home.

I wasn't the only one who wondered why it took an hour to just get some tablets when the nurse was sat down at her desk talking to her colleagues. I totally get that we had to wait but i found the waiting time a little long, we could have been discharged an hour earlier. I get that people want to take their time but after the experience people want to get out as soon as they can, seeing others before us who then left and not letting us know when we would be seen made us feel awful.

Such a shame that a few staff here didn't take the time to think a little before they spoke, maybe that's how they treat 16 year olds who made an awful mistake but they lack compassion and that showed. All in all we were at the clinic for 6.5 hours, an hour of that was waiting for the medication.

I cant thank the caring staff here enough, they helped my daughter and they are worth their weight in gold, the few that lack the caring need to take some extra training or leave the job as it did seem very clear what they thought. I didn't have the abortion but they made me feel uncomfortable.

hopefully we will never need to visit here again, thanks to those who work here with compassion, you know who you are and we cant praise you enough,,,for the others please please think about how you can influence the young and their decisions.
