I was in a lot of pain so visited my GP who booked an appointment with the Emergency Gynae Clinic (EGC) for the same day. I was then sent to A& E. Whilst this was not a life and death situation, I can assure you the pain was extreme. The staff in A& E looked after me and gave me medication before referring me to the EGC. I then met the SMO (Dr Olilo). She immediately contacted Mr Gnanachandran the consultant on duty. Mr Gnanachandran agreed to see me but needed to finish in surgery. Whilst I was waiting I was again looked after by the nursing staff who was called Liz. When Mr Gnanachandran saw the infection he offered me two procedures, one of which would be undertaken under a general aesthetic but there was a waiting list. The other was a local which he could do then and there. I went for the local. Whilst I will not lie, the local injection was painful and I apologise to the SMO for holding on to her arm! The relief from the pain from the infected cyst was immediate and I was able to go home and enjoy Christmas the same day. I would like to thank the professionalism and care all of the staff that I came into contact with, which included the security staff due to some 'difficult' walk-in patients! .
