"Midwives repeatedly ignored my concerns over baby "

About: Furness General Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I kept telling the midwives I saw that I was really concerned that my baby was unwell. They kept telling me my baby was ok and that I was an anxious mum. This went on for several days. I felt they ignored my concerns and did not get a doctor to check my baby.

Sadly, it seemed these midwives only responded after by chance a doctor got involved but by then my baby had deteriorated to a critical condition . The doctors seemed shocked that the midwives who were treating me and my baby had not contacted them and left my baby over several days to deteriorate.

I was deeply concerned over the midwives seemingly ignoring me and not recognising that my baby was deteriorating. The doctor knew straight away, however it felt like the midwives chose to simply ignore me and my poorly baby.

The midwives did not appear to listen to my concerns or contact the doctors. It was nearly left too late. Thankfully my baby recovered but this was no thanks to the midwives.

Very poor care indeed! I think this maternity unit clearly has many problems that needs addresssing to avoid another family suffering.
