My three & half day stay on Ward Edward 11 for a total hip replacement was faultless. From the personal telephone call booking the surgery date, on the day Theatre Reception Unit to transfer to the ward the staff were superb, the treatment professional, friendly & informative.
The anaesthetist discussed my options, the surgeon answered my questions. The overall team work was smooth, collaborative & efficient. The nursing was faultless with impressive amounts of aftercare. The food at a time when you are not particularly feeling hungry or interested was good, presented well, served with care & encouragement. The ladies making sure less abled patients had access & encouragement to eat their meals. The physios made sure the exercises were done correctly with the appropriate equipment available.
I cannot speak highly enough of the auxiliary/junior nursing staff who covered all the little extras that made me comfortable and feeling safe. I was concerned about pressure sores but this was high priority and addressed from the start with no repetition of previous difficulties for me. The obs were done with less disruption during the night, the ward quiet with very low lighting so I was lucky enough to sleep each night. The blood testing for my anaemia was timely with the results fed back to me daily. My discharge was explained, with the prepared medicine ready for me to take, no long wait. My sincere thanks and appreciation go to all involved.
"Impressive team work"
